Dr. Stuart Gough

Dr Gough is a 3rd generation Calgarian, with a passion for helping Calgarians.

After graduating from the University of Alberta with both BSc and DDS degrees in 1990, Stuart served as a Dental Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. While in the Forces, Stuart served in deployments in Canada and overseas as part of a Field Surgical Hospital which gave him valuable training in surgical procedures. Upon completion of his Army service, Stuart started two dental practices in Calgary – West 17th Ave Dental Care and Calgary Smiles.

While in private practice, Stuart served on the executive of the Calgary and District Dental Society and was the Southern Alberta coordinator for Open Wide Alberta, a day when dentists across the province donated free dental care to those less fortunate. He has also helped teach radiology at the SAIT dental assisting program.

After 12 years of private practice, Stuart and his family sold the practices, and left Canada to provide humanitarian dental care in the impoverished South Pacific island nation of Tonga. While he was there, he helped institute an oral health education program in the local schools. He also ran a free dental clinic where over 6000 people received much needed dental care.

In 2007, Stuart and his wife Carol and 4 children returned home to Calgary from the South Pacific.

Having completed over 3500 hours of continuing dental education, Dr Gough is well versed in most aspects of dentistry. He is an accredited member of the Alberta and Canadian Dental Associations. He has become proficient at wisdom teeth removal with over 10,000 cases completed successfully.
